5 things to check out with your kids at Cardrona these holidays
School holidays are almost upon us! If you’re looking for things to do with your sproglets these holidays, head up to Cardrona Alpine Resort for a few days of skiing or snowboarding with your family!
We know holidays with kids can be stressful – especially trying to get them ready for a day on the snow while trying to shove your own feet into a pair of stubborn ski boots. So these are our top 5 things to check out with your kids at Cardrona to make your time on the slopes a LOT more relaxing!
4 Day Programmes
If your family’s in Wanaka or Queenstown for a week, book your kids into one of Cardrona’s 4 day kids’ programmes – Skiwees (ski) or Lowriders (snowboard). The camps run from Mondays – Thursdays, & include 5hrs of group lessons & lunch every day with the same instructor. You can drop your kids off from 8.30am at the Skiwees/Lowriders building & the team there will help get them ready for a day on the snow. There are groups for every ability level of kids aged 5 – 14yrs old.
Nursery/Ski Kindy
Heading to the mountain with your Under 5s? Drop them off at the Cardrona Nursery or Ski Kindy & let their team take care of your pride & joy while you have a well-deserved few hours skiing by yourselves. The kids’ specific ski instructors can get your littlies sliding, with Under 5 group & private lesson options for every level of mini-shredder.
Pengi & Frosty
Cardrona’s 2 mascots, Pengi & Frosty, hang out around the resort’s Base & Beginners’ areas. You might even see them at the bottom of the road when you’re heading up in the morning. They’re always happy for a high five, photo or snowball fight with the resort’s young visitors – young or young at heart!
New Beginner Features
This winter Cardrona have added to their beginner facilities, making it the perfect place for your kids to learn to ski or snowboard. Your kids will love the new space-age, see-through Learner Conveyor tunnel, that will keep them warm & dry no matter the weather!
Once they’re heading up the chairlifts, take them on “A Real Journey” out to Captain’s Basin from the top of McDougall’s & back down to the bottom of Whitestar Express. It’s the longest green run in the country at 3.2km long!
Kids’ Cup Slopestyle
These school holidays Cardrona will also host the Cardrona Kids’ Cup Slopestyle, a competition event all about having as much fun as possible! Kids of all freestyle abilities are welcome to show their stuff on the jumps, boxes & rails in Lil’ Bucks terrain park. Even if they’re not competing, bring the kids up to check out all the action on Wednesday July 20!
