Torpedo7 team rider Katie Schofield has big goals, among which is representing New Zealand in the upcoming UCI Track World Cup at the Avantidrome in her adopted hometown of Cambridge. To give her the edge required to take on the best in the world means putting in the hours training. With winter upon us this means early mornings and evening rides are often in the dark. Katie recently picked up some new Torpedo7 lights and had the following to say about them.
As the winter mornings and nights are getting that much darker, I had to upgrade the lighting on my bike. Nowhere better than to visit the team at Torpedo7 and test out new items that have just hit the shelves.
The Blaze 600 LED front light has a range of settings with a 100m distance beam. The 600 lumen is more than adequate to safely see where you are going and what’s in front, without the disturbing yells from oncoming traffic! I got caught out in the rain the other day, and this light was a trooper…and still works.
Paired up with the Jupiter 60 rear light you will be all set to go on dark days. This little unit is smart! It has a vibration sensor which changes the setting of the light based on your movements: when still it is in steady mode, when moving it will go to flash mode. Additionally it has a ‘smart brake’ setting in which the brightness increases when you apply the brakes!
Both are easy to mount with a detachable soft silicon strap. And can handle 100km/h speeds as I accidentally forgot to take them off before I mounted it onto the roof racks of my car! Both are USB-charging so no more stress about the expense of batteries to keep on hand!
