- Secure the bike in an upright position, such as a work stand.
- Remove the top cover from the Chain Machine and fill it to the “fluid level” mark on the side with Chain Cleaner fluid only. (Image 1)
NOTE: Never use solvents, acetone or alcohol in the Cleaner machine. This will cause the plastic casing of the machine to break down or melt.
- With the black handle facing the Rear Derailleur, place the machine under the chain and push up until the chain sits completely in the grooves in the machine. (Image 2)
- Pull the black handle out and hook it around the back of the Rear Derailleur cage, allowing you to have one hand free for movements.
- Place the top cap over the chain and secure it. (Image 3)
- Rotate the cranks anti-clockwise (back pedal) to run the chain solution around the brushes to clean the chain. You should rotate the cranks at least 10-12 times or until the chain looks clean. (Image 4)
- After the chain has been cleaned, remove the lid from the machine and take it away from the chain. It is a good idea to wash the Cleaner machine out after each use to prolong its life.
- Using a lint free cloth or rag, dry the chain completely to remove all Cleaner fluid residues. (Image 5)
- After every cleaning operation it is absolutely necessary to lubricate the chain. One drop of oil per roller is recommended for proper lubrication and performance. (Image 6)
