Tent Size Phillip Lee, Hillcrest -Hamilton Nice light weight tent that is easy to put up but there is no way that this can be considered a two person tent.
everything's red in here Paul Guest, The City Of Newtown, Wellington Certainly not a 2 person tent if those 2 people have any gear whatsoever .. and they'll be pretty cozy. And there's not much room under the fly for much more than boots.
That said; was very suitable for just me and my pack, got quite rained on on it's first outing, and performed perfectly in the wind on an exposed saddle.
Very, very easy to put up and take down. The proliferation of these wonderful bendy segmented metal poles without bumps or ridges makes construction far less frustrating.
Condensation problem that other reviewers speak of was similar for me, but hey; I was sopping wet for all daylight parts of the mission anyway, so it wasn't a concern.
Thoroughly recommend replacing all the knots on the guy ropes first thing! Bowlines at the fly end and figure 8's at the other - and bam! You've got a 5 star tent.
I grabbed this on a whim since it was on special, but even at full price its competitive.
Worth more than what you pay! SJ B, Otago Great tent, been using it for more than a month. Have been in hail, snow and moderate to strong wind (shelter bit though). It is important that you set it up back end into the wind as it suggests or it feels like it really "strains". I got up at 3 am and felt I needed to turn it after the wind shifted direction (this was very strong winds though).
The only problem I have had with it as Abdullah says is that it seems to let moisture inside the tent over night (if there is no wind)... even if you make sure nothing is touching the walls. I don't know if all tents do this or not though. It is also a snug fit for one person + their 90L pack. 2 people? Good luck with that.
BEYOND Impulse Tent Murray Sulzberger, Hawera Set it up on the lawn in really windy weather. Tent stayed dry and up despite blustery wind and rain.
Maybe not as good a test as a week in the Kaimanawas but a pretty good flat-land trial.
Pretty good Kane Steward, Hamilton Arrived yesterday and is great value for the money. I weighed it last night and it only came in at approx 1800gms as opposed to the rated 2100gms.
You won't find cheaper.
Awesome value Rosman Abdullah, Harewood 2.1kg packed into a small bag at this price is pretty damn good (more so when you buy it on special). I took this out to the West Coast over xmas 09 and it held up really well. There was some moisture in the tent as it rained on and off overnight but it could also be down to condensation (it was a warm night). Things stayed pretty dry anyway. It fitted 2 people and my rifle, but while I was happy to cuddle up with the lady :) the rifle was a bit cold! Ideal tent for solo missions where you need a bit of room to keep your gear inside.
