- Torpedo7 4WD 2 Bike Rack
Torpedo7 engineers have come up with another winning solution with the innovative Torpedo7 4WD 2 Bike Rack, targeted to the lifestyles of the SUV drivers and 4x4 Vehicles. the rack moves with the door, not restricting access to the cargo area.
Through clever design and relentless testing the Torpedo7 4WD 2 bike rack is especially designed to fit on the back of most door mounted spare wheel carrying 4WDs.
It simply Straps onto a 4WD spare tyre Adjusts to fit any tyre sizes from 14" to 20", from 190mm to 300mm wide. You can fold the rack up out of the way when not in use, without any tools,
It accepts a variety of bike types or frame designs. You simply rest your bikes frame over the foam covered bars, and secure with the straps provided. (Includes lockable fastening knobs and securing straps) It is however recommended to also use a bungee or bike inner tube to prevent the bikes from swinging when driving.
The thick high density foam-rubber coating the racks tubing prevents wearing or damage to your bikes finish when in use. The large diameter of the foam prevents damage from pressure spots for when carrying light-weight aluminium or carbon fibre frames.
- Carries up to 2 bikes.
- Includes lockable fastening knobs and securing straps
- Frame folds to 90 degrees encasing spare tyre.
- Width of extension bars: 440mm x 580mm wide approx.
- Diameter of tube: 25 mm
- Maximum Weight capacity: 30kgs
- Suits Rear mounted/door mounted spare wheels only
- Weight: 7.0kg
- 2 x nylon securing straps with metal buckles
- 4 x nylon bike tie down straps with metal buckles

Please note: The top bar of this rack needs to go over the top of the spare tyre. Some models of Soft-Roaders have plastic covers or shrouds over the spare wheel making this type of rack unsuitable. Please check your vehicle pefore purchasing.

Fits my Landrover Freelander perfectly, am able to still use the back door with no problems. Fits on and off easily and securely holds our 2 adult mountain bikes.
Ive read the other comments, and i don't know how the rack is able to rotate on the tire if it is fitted correctly. I have never had that issue. It would pay to not over tighten the clamps as this could cause damage, and is definitely not required. Ideally the clamps would be made of steel/aluminum but then im quessing it would be alot more expensive! Just fit the bike rack to the setting that is perfect to your application, mark the clamp junctions with a paint pen and bingo! You can take it on and off with ease and fit it quickly and easily with no drama. Definitely recommend this set up if you have a rear mounted spare tire on your SUV/4WD.
I had this on my car for about 3 months and the hand tighteners started tightening up every time i wanted to fold the rack in. The screwnut has now fallen off and I may have to look at another option to keep it together. I also noticed just driving around with a lightweight road bike the frame turns around my back tyre and doesnt stay in place no matter how tight and how many extra straps i use. I thought this was a good product but it has cheap plastic parts which fall apart if you use this a lot. If you are seldom using this rack it may be ideal, but for someone using it daily it wore out in a few months. Like Canada guy i may have to DIY it to keep it together.
I am really happy with this rack. Pleasantly surprised with the build quality and very easy to put on and take off.
Easy to use. Good for 2 bikes Only problem I have found is it can slide around the tire a little when using offroad/on bumpy roads. Balancing the bikes a bit helps this.
Don't muck around with the screws, just set it up once and take it on/off as needed and it's no worries.
This is the only option if you are also towing. It is strong and safe but definitely ONLY two bikes! We stripped the thread with three.
I've had this for past 3 years, super convenient as can still open the boot. Extremely easy to use and I leave it hanging on my Pajero all year around so it's easy to just to put my bike on it whenever I like. Takes less than 1 minute.
There are 2 screws which you use to tighten on/off & these can cross thread if you over tighten or if they get too dry. So as long as you put a drop of chain oil (or grease) on it every now and again it stops it cross threading.
Is only good for 1 heavy mountain bike or 2 road bikes.
