Good affordable trainer for those freezing, foggy winters. Great for interval training. When I changed MTB tyres to slicks, it made a massive difference to the noise level!

Can't go wrong when on special - as it is (often). Very noisy though with MTB tyres (I use Crossmarks). Lack of resistance can be rectified a lot by tightening the roller bolts, but be warned, it'll remove tread as a result - best used with a slick(ish) tyre if possible...

I found this unit easy to use. Noise is minimal with people watching TV in next room. Great workout if using higher gears. I am using a road bike and it's fine. First trainer I have used.

Great value for money, impressed with how quiet it is especially compared to my old one. Resistance is good, equal to road riding at 30km/hr flat road in same gear. Probably won't have enough resistance for efforts but if you are serious you do your efforts on the road, even if its raining.

Bought this for our daughter to use, for which it will be OK ... but any serious rider should steer clear. With a 53/12 you get barely enough resistance to simulate a slight head wind. At that speed there is a very small vibration/resonation setup in the fly wheel which runs through your whole frame. As a result the small thread which pushes wheel against tyre slowly unwinds ... net result you have to hop off and retighten every 10 mins.
If you are a recreational rider and just looking fr something to do when its wet outside etc, this will be OK, b ut if you are half serious about your training forget this unit. You wont be able to do intervals, replicate hill sessions etc ... and the loosening of the resistance will drive you insane.

Value for money, only downside that I can see is, if you're running an off road mountain bike tyre it gets very noisy (as expected) but the vibration causes the adjuster thread to unwind as it hasn't got a locking mechanism. But other than that very good solid construction.

After reading the previous reviews I had some concerns about the noise but I have found that the noise is very low level. Others can watch TV without the noise being intrusive.

I have found this to be a great value trainer. I understand the concerns about lack of resistance, especially with the lower gearing of a MTB, but I find it works perfectly for what I want to do (base training whilst waiting for my collarbone to heal) with a couple of gears to spare. Not too noisy in my situation but might be for folks living in apartments. Now if only I could overcome the boredom.

This is a great product, it is easy to use and folds away with ease.
Even a novice like me had no problems operating it and the family had no problem hearing the TV while I was riding.

Pros: brilliant service, well-constructed (good, strong welds), compact and very stable.

Cons: you'd have to be profoundly deaf not to hear someone on one of these 2 blocks away. Bung it in the garage or shed though and you're away laughing.

All in all, highly recommended.

Thanks Torpedo7, this works great and I find it pretty quiet, I just use higher gears for some increased resistance.
It is easy to set up and is nice and stable and great price.
