With Armstrong and Pantani testing each other on the final stretches.  Legendary Pantani  "Il Pirata", rode a Wilier during the start of his career and in doing so, reviving the traditional Wilier brand.

The Izoard frameset from Wilier looks a lot more expensive than its price tag suggests, At first glance it could be mistaken for a "Cento".  It’s distinctive by its bowed top tube, oversized and non-rounded tubes with a massive bottom bracket area. A racers frame, with lower head tube lengths and full carbon fork making steering a breeze when you jump out of the saddle or sprint and corner at high speed in the local crits,

They’re all too aware that being gorgeous means little if the technology isn’t equally alluring. The Izoard frame features their latest development WMS - Wilier Monocoque System, a revolutionary procedure that uses monocoque technology in every tube, thus allowing a reduction in weight to previously unachievable results, while maintaining superior ride characteristics over lugged and regular monocoque frames. The 1150g (53cm) frame, unmistakable in its classical geometry, is the result of a balanced mix of carbon fibers with specific mechanical properties of resistance and elasticity.

These days Wilier operates out of a modern purpose built facility in Rossano Veneto. They produce around 13,000 bikes a year and serve 250 dealers across Italy.
