New Zealand has a world of terrain condensed into a little land mass giving us tonnes of variety. The landscape offers some of the best adventure spots in the world and the local culture has transformed free time into action packed fun. This blog points you in the direction of a few different activity hotspots making our way down from the top of the country, finishing off with no. 7 in Queenstown. The activities listed are sure to keep you on your toes, check them out for yourself!

Take on one of the infamous Raglan points which are home to some of the most consistent surf in New Zealand or play around and learn to surf at Waitareeeie beach. Post surf, enjoy a beer or whatever you’re into while soaking in the good vibes of the little coastal township.

  1. Hike Mount Ngauruhoe

This awe striking volcano is often looked past by everyone struggling up the devil’s staircase on their way over the Tongariro crossing. The gradient of the mountain well outshines the crossing, and the track is a bit of a guessing game, these factors make for a challenging experience for sure but it will be truly remembered!

  1. Wakeboarding at Cable Parks throughout the country

This rad past time seems to duck under the radar of the population minus a couple of kiwi’s with an eye for a good time. The selection of small but quality cable park’s extend the length of the country with spots to ride in Ruakura (2 hours north of Auckland), Taupo, Hawkes Bay and Ashburton. Riding behind a cable poses tonnes of benefits that aren’t easily had behind a boat. A few of these are Beginners get pulled out of the water easier with an assisted lift with the wake rope being attached high on the cable. Also the accessible features (Jumps and Rails) cable parks provide are always fun to play around on, this brings in more of a skate feel.

These parks are found all over the country, check out sites for more info:

  1. Rere Rockslide + Gisborne falls

One 60m long natural water slide is sure to trigger nostalgia and fire your adrenaline around. If you happen to find yourself on the east coast or feel up to the trip, you’ll find the Rere rock slide approximately 50km north-west from Gisborne. Fly down the naturally smoothed out rock on any inflatable you can find that’s suitable for the family friendly area spot. That’s it for Rere, get over there and enjoy.

This playground is hands down one of the best in the country, a fun location for a day trip out of Christchurch. The Boulding and climbing opportunities here are out of control. Take in a foam mat and some chalk and see what you can climb, or simply take in too much food and have a picnic then play around on the different trails surrounding the area.

  1. Gorge road, Queenstown

Home to an unreal jump park this mecca hosts several events throughout the summer. But always open for a good time as long as the weather plays ball. There are lines for everyone here from people catching an inch of air for the first time to some crazy kid eyeing up a flip on the 72ft canyon gap. Even if you’re not interested in jumping yourself, get down there and check out the action. Also I should mention the park is free to use!
