Salomon introduces two new trail shoes; the Wings Flyte 2 and the Sense Pro 2.

The Wings Flyte 2 provide runners with the freedom and confidence to surmount those varying, steep terrains. As the name suggests they are the perfect shoe for those up and downs.

When it comes to describing the Wings Flyte 2, it has all the usual intriguing Salomon terminology; Sensifit™, Quicklace, Contagrip.

Sensifit™ technology, based around the idea of two grasping hands, wraps securely around the foot to hold it in place. Wings Flyte 2 has a wider Sensifit™ to warrant a precise, even fit for miles of running. The Quicklace system works hand-in-hand with Sensifit™ technology to ensure the foot is comfortably supported with little movement happening inside the shoe. The minimalistic and strong lacing system allows for one-pull tightening, and the hidden tongue garage stores the lace away nicely. As well as keeping the shoe looking stream-lined it also prevents the lace getting caught on those sneaky obstacles whilst running.

The Wings Flyte 2 has been intelligently created to protect the foot from injury and debris, its lightweight durability is dependable which means runners can master those long distance advanced trails. For protection there is a mud-guard around the base of the foot and extra durability is found in the toe and heel caps. There is a generous, lightweight EVA cushioning in the midsole which reduces fatigue and protects the foot even when hopping logs and rocks on those tricky trails A little added bonus; there’s no need to stop to flick pebbles or debris out of your shoe thanks to the tongue gusset. The highly abrasive, wet traction Contagrip technology allows for confidence and safety on those varying and unpredictable terrains even when wet.

The evolved Agile Chassis System incorporated in the sole is also designed for agility and cushioning. In addition to this, the downhill-considered lug geometry provides the grip and stability needed for safe hill descents. If all this wasn’t enough, there’s the additional EVA Orthalite sole along with the 3D stretch air mesh upper that provides maximum breathability. So go ahead and conquer those technical trails and run with confidence when the trails get tough with Salomon’s Wings Flyte 2.

With a softer landing and smoother transition, the new Sense Pro 2 is the ideal choice for balancing protection and feel on light trails. Great for a wide audience as a day-to-day runner, Sense Pro 2 can handle almost anything; both road and trail.

In addition to the key technical features found in the Wings Flyte 2 and all Salomon shoes, the Sense Pro 2 sets itself aside with unique additional features, such as the Endofit sleeve within the shoe. This acts as a second sock, some runners out there like to go commando when wearing this shoe; the professional athlete Kilian Jornet is one of them; whatever tickles your fancy aye. Luckily the quick drying breathable mesh allows for top breathability! The Orthalite Sole also creates a cooler, drier, healthier and better cushioned environment under the foot.

Socks or no socks, the Endofit is there as an additional support, complementing the Sensifit™and Quicklace. Ian Corless, in his Sense Pros 2 blog, says this about the Endofit, “it literally just holds your foot in the softest and most seamless grip of any shoe tested. It’s like placing your foot in a velvet glove and then when you tension the lace, the pressure is applied in subtle way that allows no movement. For me, any shoe that has ‘Endofit’ provides the most secure feel on any surface”.

The low drop allows a natural and pleasant interactive experience with the ground below, yet the foot is still protected by the lightweight and flexible Profeel Film sole, and Energycell+ midsole foam material designed to give excellent rebound for plenty of shock absorbent no matter the terrain. Similar to the Wings Flyte 2 the wet traction Contagrip sole is designed for both wet and dry surfaces, so it appears this innovative, attractive looking shoe has it all.
