Let’s be honest, the only thing your kids will care about is that the bike looks cool. But, you also need to watch out for sizing. A bike that’s too small may make your child feel silly, a bike that’s too big is likely to be too difficult to control.
- A well fitted bike will allow your child to straddle the middle of the bike with both feet flat on the ground. This will allow them to hop off the bike quickly.
- When seated on the saddle and hitting those trails, knees and legs should not touch the handlebars. On the other hand, your child might not be able to put in as much power into pedalling as they’d like too if the seat is too low. Legs should therefore be almost stretched when sitting on the saddle with only a slight bend.
- Your child needs to be able to reach the handlebars and turn them to their fullest extent without overstretching.
