  • Going from pedal power only.....
I bought this bike as my first E-MTB, so glad I did. It's a big step up from my Kona Process 153, which had a couple of upgrades. In the time I've had the Giant about 4 weeks, I have been riding, Bowenvale Traverse - West, Bowenvale Traverse - East, Mt Vernon, Rapaki Track (Sidetrack), Sesame Street, Halswell Quarry, Greenwood Park Track. I'm listing these tracks because I don't think you can have the same experience with to different bikes. The Giant is heavy, but that's the trade off with an e-bike. I didn't get the same amount of lifts or jumps with the Giant, but my body wasn't burned or fatigued by the time I started my downhill, I could really enjoy them. With the multiple power settings, I could work as hard or as little as I liked going up. With the Greenwood Park Track (it's a bit rocky in places) it was good to have the wider tires and the heaver bike made this feel a little smoother. Overall I really like this bike, no one whoos and ahhhhs over it because it doesn’t have its name (big name) plastered all over the side, but give me the pearl black and more bang for your buck any day!

  • Good but not great
My first ride was 50m before the first fault occurred. The speed sensor was faulty. I was to far from torpedo 7 at that time so I had to pay to have it fixed at a different giant shop. Parts were free though. The cable also didn't have enough zip ties to hold it in place.
The next issue was rattlling coming when the suspension was hit hard. Turned out to be loose cables under the bash guard.
After the 3rd ride the rear spokes squeak when the wheel is under pressure. Not impressed.
On how the bike handles, it is extremely good cornering and has impressed. It has the original trance geometry. The low motor and bb is a pain often getting pedal strike. Riding with the motor off is very doable, with low resistance, only issue is dragging 24kg around. Comparing the battery to the bosh, the giant wins hands down, they still don't last long enough for me, maybe 70km with hills max. XTR brakes and shifters are very nice.
ALL in all its pretty good, but for the money I would expect more.
