  • Modification Quattro Tow ball Mount 4 Bike Channel Rack
With the lack of suitable bike racks for E-MTB’s I decided to purchase the Torpedo7 and modify it to suit E-bikes. With some scrap 50x50 RHS that I had laying around I made a frame to slide into the tow ball hitch an afternoons work and with a few wee mod’s I now have a bike rack capable of holding 100kg’s and carrying 4 E-bike’s with ease.

  • Good design but poor materials
On the plus side this bike rack works well, and is great for carrying bikes of different sizes and frame configurations. The support struts fold down making it easy to access the rear hatch of the car without removing the rack completely.

Note that is does require a 50mm towball (not a 1-7/8" which is more common in NZ). It would have been helpful if the coupling could handle both sizes.

On the negative side the quality of the fixings is poor. On assembly one of the bolt heads punched through the cheap plastic washer, one of the bolts securing the tailgate sheared on the first trip, and there are signs of rust already on some of the washers. A shame as the rack is basically well-designed, and for another few dollars for better quality components would have earned a five-star rating.

So if you're looking for a good rack on a budget and are handy with your own tools and fixings then this rack is fine. Or you can pay four times the price and get a Thule with better quality components. Your call!

  • I have used this rack for a month now and have found it very good.
The good: you can load the rack on to your tow bar and still open the boot with out the bikes on. Can transport 4 bikes without rack rash or them rubbing and crashing around on the back. Can secure different size bikes and all shape of frames easily.
The Bad: not exactly small to store when not in use. If you have two different sized bikes side by side can be a bit of trick to get the vertical loop in the right position for both. Takes a bit of assembling if you are in hurry. Light bar a bit flimsy, time will tell if this handles the jandal
Improvements: Trailer lights wiring should have more ties. I think with 4 bikes on it could do with a hatch strap to the back to help with a bit of flex. No 100% on the 50mm ball thing, I have run this on the standard ball and a number of mates have too. Guessing if she lets go it will be one big insurance claim! Only thing better than this maybe a vertical rack but they are serious churrrrching.

  • Needs 50mm towball, 30+ minutes assembly and a spare number plate.
This bike rack is sturdy and well designed.I am very happy. The assembly takes at least 30 minutes- up to an hour. I needed to buy a 50mm towball as it states that it needs to be 50mm on the packaging-twice.You also need another number plate for the back. Some leverage may be handy when unfastening your current towball :) A good buy, will see many trips and it holds the bikes very well.

  • Stronger & Sturdier than....
Decided to purchase this due to the inefficiency of the Zapp towball rack and bungy cords. Also needed a sturdier option to the current setup of Hapro on the roof plus four bikes on the back. Installed this on a Subaru Outback, with a few adjustments of uninstalling the lip on the tow bar we were away laughing. It took about 40m to install. You need a monkey wrench for the towbar and a metal file to widen the tow bar hole of the tow bar mount plate. If you have the particular vehicle mentioned, the metal file is a must. Certainly a cheaper option to the thule equivalent. Bear in mind, always consider the position of exhaust before purchasing. A friend melted his carbon rims.

  • Really happy with this product. Easy to use and great on the bikes. Can fit 4 full suspension bikes on it with no rubbing

  • Love the rack and the options it gives
I am very grateful for this rack and it getting my family out on their bikes in great places. The four bikes fit fairly easily onto the rack and I am getting quicker at securing them every time. I also feel completely secure with the bikes on, not worrying about them moving or shifting, because this rack has it all. On the critical side I find the light socket a little tight, and the weight of four bikes does make the rack and bounce a little on bumpy roads, but I would give this rack 5 stars depending on how it holds together in a year. For now it is bliss.

  • Excellent Rack
This is a really solid rack, that holds the bikes securely and without harm. A vast improvement over our previous rack system. To the person who complained about it bending your tow bar - any rack would have done that, I suggest you read the instructions that came with your lock-on bar.

  • Great quality and value
For what you pay this is an excellent bike rack. Easy to assemble and fit onto car. The only set back is that you cannot use a trailer while the adapter is on your tow bar. Otherwise another awesome T7 product.

  • Too heavy for tow bar
With 4 light mountain bikes loaded on it is too heavy for the tongue of my tow bar and bent it going gently over a bump. The design has the first bike far to far away from the tow ball and it is time consuming and fiddly getting four bikes on and off.

  • Excellent option for moving 4 bikes around
the family is pretty impressed with this piece of kit. set-up took about an hour putting the rack together. the instructions are ok. attaching the tow bar plate took another 20mins and you will need a large adjustable spanner to take the tow-ball off. i found that the hole in the plate had to be filed out about 0.5mm to fit the threaded part of the towball. putting the bikes on was easy, 27.5, 26, 20 and 16 inch mtb's. though first time took some arrangement with pedals and deraillers. found it best to start with the largest bike closest to the car and with the ge***t facing the car. the vertical stays can also be placed at a angle and the wheel trays can be adjusted to better suit the size of bike, or to stagger the positions so peddles and handlebars aren't knocking. 5 stars.

  • Great Bike Rack
I like that the bikes can't rub together when mounted on the rack & the rack mounting system is easy to use.
