  • Very light and stretchy.
Very nice shorts, light and stretchy. Comfortable and stylish. Haven't worn them on the ride yet, but fit is spot on. 1 star off since they require belt as a extra security and they are not padded at all. They definitely are not worth full retail price, but on the heavy discount they fit the bill.

  • Great quality sports shorts
Excellent pants for every day activities, and comfortable enough riding around on the bike. Good pockets in the front with a zipped pocket inside front right.
    Might buy another pair!
Thanks for the great shorts Torpedo7

  • As reviewed in the New Zealand Mountain Biker Magazine
Torpedo7s riding shorts are a light weight, stretchy, no fuss, breathable and light set of shorts. The design follows the trend of current trail shorts, with a large waist band for a secure fit and a light weight material, in this case 85% Nylon and 15% Spandex.

The styling suits a rider who doesnt mind a modest appearance, so those of you who like the super-bright road worker look might be better suited to something else. Moving on to the fit, for me they were comfortable around the waist and a little tighter than a usual around the thighs, although with the stretch this did not affect movement and it very well may suit a lot of people that dont enjoy loose fitting riding clothes. I only tried a liner with a chamois under them once, which was a tad tight; those who regularly wear these may want to look at going one size up.

The breathability out on the trial was great, and they stood up to some hot temperatures, with the fabric doing a great job of wicking away sweat. A nice touch was the zipper pocket inside the main pocket, which was a great place to store a phone or keys. The pocket sat more on the upper of the riders leg rather than slipping around to the hip area; this made it more comfortable and would definitely save your phone (and leg) in a crash.

They were a great pair of shorts for quick rides, doing an hour or so at the local trails where there wasnt a need for padded liners, as the lightweight nature of them made them super comfortable. The price point is good and definitely makes them an affordable option, even more so if you strike the timing right and get them on sale.

  • Last years were better
Have been wearing torpedo 7 shorts/dscend shorts for over two years now. Purchased three pairs of these because they looked like my old favourites that are no longer available.

They are a much lighter grey than in the picture and of a reasonable fit. 36 sometimes means the large is too small and xl is perfect. Xl fits ok, waist is a bit loose but everywhere else it's good. Unfortunately these shorts don't have velcro/elastic adjustability at the sides like old similar versions. Belt required which is pretty annoying. Products are supposed to get better not worse.

  • Good quality
Sizing good, 34 was my normal 34 fit. Quality good. Bit shorter in the leg than I was expecting but not bad.

  • Great place to start... and stop there if that is all you need
Stunning introductory price. Love the stretch fabric. Sizing is pretty good against the two pairs we bought for my son & I (Small & Med). But it is a close fitting style that stays comfy because of the fabrics - if you want baggy go elsewhere.
Fasteners and zip are good. I don't use the belt loops. Jean style front pockets are not great for a cycle short - they are in the wrong place for comfort. OK for small items but a typical smart phone is not so great. I would rather have function over street smarts on a cycle short and that is the only reason they lost a star
