Shift 2015 Range Review

The Shift MX range is back for 2015 and it’s bigger and bolder than ever.

Shift run with the motto “Riding is Fun” and we can’t disagree with them there. In our opinion Shift have got you covered for riding gear whether you are a weekend warrior or a serious racer with aspirations of the big stage– having fun and keeping it real is what it’s all about.

Shift are continuing this year with their three main ranges – Faction, Strike and Assault. Each range is aimed at a different point in the MX market and everyone can definitely find something to suit their budget and needs. Below we give you a quick breakdown on the differences between the ranges and give you some ideas on what we think you should look at depending on your riding needs.

FACTION – Stand Out and Perform

This year the flagship Faction range comes in both Camo and Mainline colour options. The Faction is worn by the Shift sponsored pros and if you’re serious about your racing then this is the kit for you. This gear got everyone in our office excited; not only does it look a million bucks, but has all the features you want to see in a top of the line gear set to help you get to the top of your discipline.

The Faction Jersey’s are a cut above the rest with exclusive features to the Faction line of raglan sleeves and functional lightweight wrist cuffs, which helps give you better movement and prevent fatigue. They are also made from technical moisture wicking fabrics and have a full mesh back to keep you cool.

The Faction Pant definitely stands out from the crowd with some amazing features. There are stretch panels everywhere you could want them, running up most of the entire rear sides of the pant. There is a special hidden rear flex panel behind the back waistband that provides you with an amazing amount of flex when sitting or doing some tricks. The other feature that makes this pant stand out in the crowd of Shift pants is the 900D polyester main body material. Yup, you read that right, 900D – this is some high spec material for serious riders.

If you’re serious about your riding and want to stand out and perform, then we think you should check out the Faction Range as it won’t let you down.

STRIKE – Individualise your Ride

The mid-tier Strike range not only looks awesome but gives you the best of both worlds with features of the Faction range without the higher price tag. If you’re going for more than just a quick blat around the backyard or track every so often, we would recommend checking the Strike range out. It’s available in both Stripes and Army colour options and we personally love the new graphics in this range. The stripes is a bold in your face option that seems to take cues from old school styles. The Army range is just plain cool, the tops are super subtle, but the pants are slick with awesome graphics and a more military style camo print and font pack.

The Strike Jersey has the full mesh back like the Faction so you keep cool, but has standard cut sleeves and Lycra cuffs for comfort. Again made from tech fabrics with moisture wicking properties, this jersey combines some of the key features of the Faction in a more cost effective package.

Like its Jersey, the Strike Pants have some awesome features, namely the huge number of stretch panels around the knees, cuff, back waistband and groin area, which make sure you can move how you want to easily. Another thing you will love about these pants is the internal mesh liner, it’s a very fine weave that is super soft and feels so comfortable against your skin.

Overall, the Strike range would definitely be the pick of the bunch for us. It’s a great compromise between getting amazing features and being cost effective for riders everywhere, while still looking fantastic.

ASSAULT – Gear Up and Go

The Assault range is for your everyday rider who wants an awesome kit that won’t assault your wallet and it’s definitely one of our top sellers. For a couple of hundred dollars you can have the full kit, and be riding around in style. The Assault range comes in bold in your face contrasting colours and is definitely for those who want to just gear up and go.

The Assault Jersey is a relaxed fit with drop tail design and still has the moisture wicking fabrics that the higher spec Strike and Faction jerseys do. It also comes with a technical collar design, that like the cuffs is lined in lycra for the ultimate comfort while riding.

The Assault Pant has the super soft internal lining that the Stirke has, and has contoured lower leg cuffs that fit comfortably in your boot. Stretch panels in the groin, rear waistband and calf allow a great range of motion. If you’re a weekend warrior who wants cost effective gear made with quality fabrics and amazing design, then definitely check out the Assault range, you won’t be disappointed.

What else can we say about the Shift 2015 Range? Not much, other than Chad Reed, Weston Peick, Josh Hansen, Bilko Williams, Jeremy Twitch and Taka Higashino are all wearing it and are doing AMAZING on the world scene. It is definitely worth checking out. We are super impressed with where Shift are going with their graphics and styling this year and you can’t go wrong with their features.
