Product Details

The Slash 9.8 is like a mini DH bike: it has the capability of a downhill bike without the downhill weight.

With Thru Shaft works faster than a normal shock, so it tracks the ground better and keeps you in control. It's equally at home between the tape and in the rugged wild – Yes, Slash is a race bike, but it's ridiculously fun on gnarly trail rides, too. We're not the only ones who love it: Slash was awarded Mountain Bike of the Year by Pinkbike

  • Great bike with a few almost good enough components
Great frame, internal cable routing was easy to use, climbs pretty well for a 150mm travel bike. I usually prefer shimano components but the sram gears are actually surprisingly good. The only component I have any real complaint about is the seat post (not as smooth or robust as a lev, feels like an old worn out post after 15-20 rides).
I also would have preferred an se5 up front for chch riding and a higher spoke count on the rear wheel on the large and xl frames.
I'd also like trek to make a better looking knock block stem that's 35mm long and easy to get hold of.

I am happy with my decision to buy it though, especially after getting a new front tyre and swapping the quite good guide brakes to very good Hope's.
