This summer sees popular winter ski spot Cardrona, turn their lifts for a different type of adrenalin fix. Open initially for 10 days this summer, ‘Cardrona Bike Park’ will run from Dec 27th – 31st and from January 3rd – 7th. Whitestar Express will be operating daily from 10am – 4pm offering lift access to a number of DH trails on the hill that are currently under construction. Also on offer will be trails for the XC and recreational riding crowd to explore which won’t require a lift pass.
Day lift passes for Adults will cost $40 with Children (17 years and under) costing $30. For riders wishing to use the trails but forgo the lift pass, a $10 Field Access Pass will be required. Passes will only be available to purchase from the on-mountain guest services building. 
The crew at Cardrona have been working closely with Bike Wanaka in constructing trails and planning upcoming events. Initially planned for November 22nd, the first event, the Downhill Southern Series (DHSS), has had to be postponed after unseasonably late snowfall. Cardrona Bike Park will also host both XC and DH rounds of the 2015 MTB NZ National Series on the 10th – 11th of January, the first to be held in the Southern Lakes region in a number of years.
The Cardrona Bike Park not only offers an alternative riding spot during black out periods at the nearby Queenstown Bike Park but further expands on the regions growing MTB presence, firmly cementing it’s reputation as the Southern Hemisphere’s premier location.
The new offering from Cardrona Alpine Resort will also include on-mountain accommodation and food/beverage options for guests to enjoy over the summer opening period.
