Aside from our Torpedo7 Adventure Race Team, we’re stoked to support our number of our athletes as they take on the Godzone Adventure Race in a couple of weeks time. Team Next Generation is one such team and can lay claim to having the youngest combined age of any team entered in the race. They’ll need more than useful enthusiasm to improve on their 6th place finish last year but we reckon they’ve got what it takes! Have a read below for a few words from the team and keep an eye on them once the tracking goes live on April 2nd!

Team Next Generation is back for the fifth chapter of the Godzone Adventure Race to be hosted by Kaiteriteri in the Tasman Region from the 2^nd to the 9^th of April.  This year we welcome two new teammates, Theo Wordsworth and Deklan Hodsell, alongside regulars Tim Farrant and Emily Wilson.

Theo joins the team as the youngest member aged 23. A relative new comer to the racing scene, Theo has proved himself as a super strong and easy-going teammate in his debut in China 2015. A long-time adventure enthusiast, Theo has a keen interest in ultra-running and riding and is a dedicated member of the Temple Basin Ski Club. We really look forward to having Theo along for the ride; he can think-outside the box, is handy with map in hand and has an excellent sense of humour to say the least!!

Our final member Deklan grew up in the far south and has thrived on missions in the wilderness from a young age. He brings many practical skills acquired through numerous hunting trips, multi-sport races, some adventure racing and white water paddling. Deklan is fast (legs like a gazelle), level-headed and a great problem-solver so is a great addition to our team and we look forward to the racing with him.

As the only team with a combined age of under 100, Team Next Generation is the youngest team entered in Godzone chapter five. This year we are keen to stamp our dominance on the under 25 category title for the third year running and are aiming to improve on our 6^th placing from 2015. We know that this year will be one of the most competitive yet but feel that with our combined experience, youth and enthusiasm we can foot it with the best.  Our aim is simple, have as much fun as possible while going as fast as possible. To succeed it helps to love it that little bit more than everyone else! We sure doJ

We can’t wait to explore the top of the South and with only a few more weeks to go, we still have a rogaine in Cantebury and the Te Anau Enduro to enjoy.
